is that you can spontaneously decide to go somewhere on the day of and see beautiful sites!

Our first random trip turned out so well, since we were able to go to Gettysburg on the fly.

We went to the National Museum there and decided to pay to get to see the exhibits,

which did not disappoint in the least. We got to see a cyclorama, which both Jared and I thought was so cool.

The museum was really neat, too, despite the fact that Jared got a pretty good laugh about this picture! I decided to look sad in it, because it was photographs of many who died in the Battle of Gettysburg. Jared got a kick out of how "dejected" I looked in it!

Because of the previous picture, Jared decided smiling was the better approach for his pic.

Outside of the museum there are some great places, for pics.

My favorite by far is this one! It is almost like they really sensed how much love and admiration was due for that magnificent man, Abraham Lincoln!

Addie did a good job taking this picture for us! Thanks Addie Love!

We went to this commemorative tower, and took a winding staircase up to

the top, where we enjoyed some beautiful views.

Adelaide was a little more into the picture taking than Alexia was at this point.

The girls had their first experience with cannons, which Addie enjoyed showcasing in a Vanna White style.

And this is where it all came down; this is the point at which Pickett's Last Charge was had!

Classically, the girls cared more about walking on the rocks than about the historicity of the place.

Gettysburg was awesome! We are looking forward to being able to go back, hopefully going there next time to let family or friends experience it!
That is so great that you can visit places like that on a whim! Looks like a super fun day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun weekend. THanks for the fun weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow fun. Glad you guys are getting out and enjoying your new home!:) You totally know where Addie gets her posing- hee hee. Maybe our next trip out east will have to include Gettysburg....Looks like fun and I'm sure my boys would be all over the cannons:)
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, my dad would love that you went to Gettysburg, i spent my childhood going to places like that. It looked like a perfect day to do it on too. I miss you, Brooklyn still will tear up and tell me how much she misses Addie, it makes me sad.
