After a lot of grueling hours of prepping and packing up to move, we finally made it out of New Jersey alive;o) We did not head straight to Arizona, though. Timing worked out perfectly to ensure that a vacation to Utah was warranted and wanted dearly!
The kids splashed into great summer fun with their cousins.
I love my boy! Wet or dry, he is my little guy!!!
This pose lasted for minutes.
Ta dum... I am cute! Now pick me up;o)
Grandma Pete picked her up, then Emmalyn got the proper attention due to her.
I love these pictures, because we figured out that Emmy (who does not resemble me almost at all) gets her looks from Jared's mom's side of the family. She looks like she could've been Grandma Pete's sister and her Great Grandma Coombs daughter, so here she is with her genetic family;o) Because she resembles them, we have adopted their last name as one of her nicknames, referring to her as our 'Coombsy baby.'
Happy July 4th! We went out to breakfast with all the Petersons and had a fabulous time, with the exception of Emmy falling out of the high chair and hitting her head on the ground!!! Yep... I felt like the Mother of the Year at that point... or NOT!
The kids loved cuddly up in their grandparent's bed to watch movies on the TV in there. The song 'Grandma's Feather Bed' comes to mind, unless you know that Grandma Pete is allergic to down feathers, so it is definitely not a feather bed! For us, it would be 'Grandma's Mem'ry Foam Bed!'
Uncle Brady and Aunt Rachel hosted a "Happy Birthday" party for some of the members of their family, but they were super sweet and opened it up to be also a small celebration of all the cousins' birthdays, with everyone getting their own cupcake with a candle to blow out...
and getting a super cute animal friend for a gift! While we were at the Peterson's, Jared's parents were sweet and watched our kids, so that we could have a one day trip out to do the walkthrough on our home to be. Funny thing, the walk through was the first time I had ever seen the house in person. Jared had tagged the house hunting on the way home from a conference out west. He had 6-8 hours to look at all the homes and then he had to catch his flight. I was as giddy as a little school girl when seeing it in person, since I really did love it! Phew!!!
Lullaby and good day, go to sleep my sweet hubby; lullaby, just for five; now wake up and we will sign!!! . . . on the house, that is!
Jared inherited the gift to be able to sleep anywhere, anytime from his father. He really did catch a cat nap for 5-10 minutes right before we went in to sign on our home. My mind would have been way too busy to shut down at that moment, so I didn't even contemplate it! A fan of the Peterson chicks and me. Front to back is Kaylie, Stephanie, Lori, and Barbara.
Back to more of our July 4th celebrations, that we had on the night of July 3rd.
we lit up the night with our sparklers.
FYI ~ Sparklers scare me a lot!
Why in the world do we let our kids hold poky sticks that spit fire out in every direction??? This allowance seems counterintuitive to me!!! Is anyone with me on this?
Jared seemed to not have been on the same page as me. His fear level obviously is not as high as I think it ought to be. I want to ban them; he wants to eat them...ha ha ha!
Here was our firework crowd. Jed LOVED them and was adorable with his abundant commentary on them!!!
The flash on the camera ruined the effect of this, but this was the kids doing a shadow dance during one of the 'flashy' fireworks. When I was little, my family would dance near the garage when those type of fireworks were lit off, because it made such a fun, funky dancing shadow against the wall. When I saw everyone just sitting and watching those ones, I could not hold myself back. The shadow dance called me to run to the fence. Then, I danced like I was a kid again. The first time that I did it, I am pretty sure people thought I was slightly crazy, off my rocker, immature, etc. After I took Jed with me the next time, I had the kids hooked. After that point, the kids danced every time those flashy fireworks were lit. They were excited every time one started flashing. I no longer joined in, since I enjoyed watching them dance just as much. It was a happy full circle moment for me, remembering the joy I had as a child, passing that joy onto my children, and feeling more joy as I watched them enjoy what I had as a child. It is in those simple moments that LIFE IS GOOD!
Here are our cuties in their happy July 4th outfits.
While I was packing us up to head down to my parents and having the little ones nap, Jared took Ad and Lex with their cousins to a trampoline park.
How fun!!! I am thinking that this was their first, but not their last, since I want to go with them someday!
Thank you to the Petersons a million times over!!! We love you!!!!!
