This year we decided to have a role reversal, finally letting Alexia be the 'star' and letting Adelaide play a fabulous supporting role. So, since I would only have to make one new costume, we decided to do the Snow White themed characters again this year,...

with Alexia as Snow White and Adelaide as her 'Deer Friend.' Jared played the role of Grumpy again, and I got to stuff myself again to be Happy.

One reason why this reversal of roles worked out so good for us this year is because Adelaide is just getting out of her 'I have to be a princess' phase and Alexia is full bore into her own 'I have to be a princess phase!'

Alexia knows how to assert her will very well these days. You may be wondering why she looks so forlorn in the above picture! It is because, according to her, her wig looks "terwible!" Jared, Adelaide, and I tried to convince her that it was "so cute," that it really "makes you look like Snow White," and that "Adelaide wore it last year!" She felt no need to bring up any additional arguments; she just kept on reasserting, over and over again, "It looks terwible!"

And Alexia got her way!!! As you can see she was much more confident as a blonde Snow White. At least we got some good pics of her before the trunk or treat with it on! How? We threatened her that she would not get to trick or treat if she did not keep it on for the pictures and smile!!!

We also have some fun behind the scenes info on our dear Deer. At first, Adelaide was interested in being a witch. So, I encouraged her to be the witch on Snow White. Well, she agreed, until I made the classic blunder of looking up pics of the witch online while Addie was present. She immediately was dead set that she would NOT be that witch, because she was TOO UGLY AND MEAN. Because I didn't want my plans to be totally thwarted, I told her fine, but she would have to pick to be one of Snow White's animal friends! Fortunately, she agreed!

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I am pregnant! But NO, I did not gain that much weight with this pregnancy. I am stuffed with pillows!!!
And finally, we will unveil our trunk decor...

This sign PLUS,...

This licorice stuffed leg EQUALS,...

our trunk either being "creative" or "twisted!" And yes, we did make the kids pull the licorice out of the leg!!! But, isn't that what Halloween is all about?
Happy Halloween!!!
I love it all! The costumes, the wig, the creative trunk or treat! You are such a creative gal Barb! I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Halloween!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you are hilarious!!! I love that Alexia has her own opinion about her wig!! Ha ha that is to funny! Really, she is a total girl! I love your costume again, and I love your trunk, girl I miss you!!! Oh, and for the record the witch from snow white is very ugly and mean, I agree with Addie! ;)
ReplyDeleteI always love your trunks they are always so gross. Its perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you guys are awesome! First of all, your girls are adorable and seeing these pictures reminded me of all your snow white costumes! They're hilarious (and I love the deer addition)! And what a super good idea for the licorice in the leg! I wish I had time to copy that and make a leg as good as yours in time :) Super cute!!
