Our sweet little Lexi-loo just turned three, and we love her more than ever! We were excited for her birthday, although Addie might question the sincerity of that. Addie was super excited and made sure that Lexi started thinking about the theme of her party weeks in advance. She also was fabulous at reminding us to get Lexi her presents. Because of her persistence, she picked out a present for Lexi plenty early. We, Jared and I, on the other hand were scolded by Addie for days and days for not having gotten Lexi's presents from us for her yet! Ha ha...and we never did get her presents; we ended up letting her pick out her own on her birthday. Luckily, Adelaide ended up liking our lazy method so much that she requested us to do the same on her birthday. And as for the cake,...well, I didn't even think about it until the day before her birthday. I realized this and quickly asked Lexi what she wanted, really hoping it would be super simple. First, she said a bunny birthday cake. I thought that was a good idea, or, in other words, it would be pretty easy. But, then, Addie told Lexi that she COULD NOT have a bunny cake for a 'Doggy Birthday Party.' I was kind of surprised at how strong Addie felt about it; she felt great after Lexi decided on a doggy cake instead. I didn't! That meant more work for me. I was unsure how to pull it off. Plus, I cringed thinking about trying to make it with the many interruptions of three little ones during the whole process.
After talking to my mom about techniques, I felt much better. Plus, Jared was a sweetie and took care of the little ones while I made the above doggy cake.

A little corny, yes! But 3 year olds like corny things, so Lexi liked it and that is all I was going for.
On the night before Lexi's birthday, I realized why Addie had had such a strong opinion earlier. She had been making cards for Lexi's birthday for days. I didn't understand at that point why she kept only drawing her doggies. I thought maybe it was just because she had recently learned how to draw them, so she was really hip on practicing;-) But, no, she was doing it because Lexi (and Addie) had picked that as the theme for the party. Hence, this party had to remain doggy themed, because she had already spent so much time creating the above cards. At night, I ended hanging them up all over the front room for the decor for the party.
I am not huge on having 'Friend Birthday Parties' every year. So, we decided to just enjoy this day as a family.
We did have a lot of fun! We took the girls to a 'bounce house,' where we played, bounced, and slid for two hours.
Then, we went out to eat as a family. The above middle picture is the only one that we have to document that Jed even was there. Fortunately, he slept through all of the major events, so that we could focus on Lexi for the day.
Lexi got spoiled rotten with presents from her extended family. I don't think she could have been happier with all of the sweet loot that she got. Just check out that confident, perky face.
We really love our hip little princess, and we all had so much fun on her Doggy Birthday;-)
