My sweet Grandma Mitchell passed away in August. Because of that, I ended up doing something that I said I would never do. I know, I know; never say never! My three kids and I made the trip from New Jersey to Utah, without Jared. It was well worth it in the end, as we were able to show our love and support to our family, and be loved and supported by family.
Our LAST time seeing my dear, spunky Grandma, Barbara Elaine Bonham Mitchell (Yes, I was named after her!), provided us with many opportunities for the kids to experience some of their FIRSTS.
It was the girls first viewing and funeral. For Jed, it actually was his second, since his first was Grandpa Mitchell's that took place a little over a month before it. It was Alexia's first time playing 'foot phone' with Uncle Josh.
Another first, the girls helped Uncle Dallin start up a fire, so that they...
could roast marshmallows, to make
SMORES!!! Mmm Mmm Good, but also super sticky, so the girls were unsure how much they liked them.
Jed didn't get a smore, but he did get his first play time in an 'exersaucer.'
Mitch and Jed got to have their first lesson in sharing their amazing Grandma.
The girls got to hold a real live bunny.
Believe it or not, Adelaide and Alexia had not gotten an official haircut until last month. I had always given them 'Mommy hack jobs' up until that point, and probably still usually will.
Adelaide and Alexia both got diagnosed with Amblyopia when they had an eye exam at Grandpa Pete's office.
And, not a first, but a goodie...Build-A-Bear!!! It will never get old!
Finally, their first try of heavenly homemade rootbeer,...
which made their Daddy super, duper jealous!!!
We would like to say, FIRST and foremost, that we love all of you; thanks for the fabulous memories that you helped us create!
And LAST, but certainly not least, I love and adore my Grandma Barbara Mitchell; I pray I may live up to my given name!!! She certainly set the bar high!

What cute pictures of you and your darling family. I'm glad you got to come to Utah and spend some time with them all. Even if it was for not the happiest occasion. Family is the best! Your girls are so so darling! And your little man is growing up! :) Oh, and I'm such a bad friends- but Happy LATE, LATE Birthday!! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteI am super impressed with you traveling alone with all 3 kids. You can probably conquer anything after that! Love seeing pictures of your cute family!
