End of 2013 Fun with the Palmers

After Christmas was done, we still had much more fun in store, like the following:

Diaper Changes
I decided that my Dad needed more practice changing stinky diapers...ha ha, and he sure got that!

First Tooth Pulled
Any one of my mom's children know that she gets quite a kick out of pulling teeth!  So, no surprise that when she found out that Lexi had a loose tooth, my mom could not help but pull it out a.s.a.p. to 'surprise' us!!!  Don't these cuties look a ton alike!?!

Rustler's Rooste
We had a blast at this steakhouse!  It is our favorite, because it had a...
SLIDE in the restaurant!!!  It has a way fun, old west style, and we all loved it.
Em was thrilled to bite into the corn.
Lexi enjoyed sporting her lost tooth.
Addie decided to grow a pickle mustache.
Jed looked like the silly, funny dude he is.
Free cotton candy makes this steakhouse an even more kid friendly place;o)
This incredibly funny girl was very full and very happy.
The view wasn't half bad either.

Winter Sunsets
I am totally in love with the sunsets out here!!!

Eye Exams
My mom nervously got her first, full, dilated eye exam!  They also got to check out Jared in his element.

Checklist Happiness
My mom started a checklist of things to get done before they went back home, and she got very, very excited about crossing things off!!!  So, we started adding a few 'non-things' just so that we could cross even more off!

 Build-A-Bear
We used the Christmas money from my parents to take the kids to Build-A-Bear!
During the 'heart ceremony,' Emmy just kept trying to put the heart in her mouth!  She was determined!!!  I was also determined to not have it be sopping wet when put into her very first bear :o)
Jed ended up with this mouse; it is his new best animal friend!  In fact, he has a favorite nighttime story about the mouse asking Jed to play with him, and when Jed says yes, then they "jump together, and dance together, and give fives, and give rocks, and give a big hug and say "I love you; you're my best friend!!!"  Jed has requested this story every night now for 2-3 weeks.  It is adorable!!!
After dropping multiple pairs of animal underwear throughout the store and running around like she owned the place, we decided to take Emmy out, much to her dismay:'(
Our Perfectly Perky Party Animals

New Year's Eve Celebration
Since our last mock "Chopped" competition was so fun; we decided to do another face off!
Our chopped chefs were Jared Peterson and Mark Palmer and they were facing off on New Year's Eve, providing us with an appetizer and an entree (we only ever get through 2 rounds; I think you'd almost need that $10,000 incentive to do 3 rounds, because it is a bit tiring).
The above is the reaction of the men to the idea that one of the mystery ingredients for the appetizer round was SARDINES;o)  Jared enthusiastically did not like the idea and Mark digged the idea!!!
JARED JUST MIGHT BE THE FIRST MAN IN HISTORY TO DEBONE SARDINES!!!  Ha ha...gotta love my chef!
While trying to patiently wait for the food, Jed may have gotten a bit restless and hurt his little sis!  He is not above saying sorry, though!  This is his "I'm sorry" kiss!
Yay for good, and very interesting, food!  Jared served up a sardine and onion macaroni and cheese tortilla and a churro crusted tortilla.  Mark served up pears and cinnamon and sugar tortilla strips with a sardine sauce.
We decided to have each judge assign a tally vote to one contestant or the other in the following 3 categories:  Presentation, Taste, and Creativity!
For the appetizer, Jared scored big in the taste category, while mark scored big in the presentation category.
The second round got heated up!!!
Mark created a yummy goulash of sorts, and Jared did a spin on a french dip sandwich (with a barbecue chicken and onion soup sauce)!  If Jared had finished on time, he just may have been able to pull out the win, but in the end our superb chefs tied!!!  The real winners were my mom and I, since we didn't have to cook and had our guys be the ones sweatin' it out in the kitchen (although, we did help with the dishes and clean up)!  Why did I not compete against my mom?  Uh...because she is an amazing cook and I am intimidated by her mad skills in the kitchen!!!!! ;o)
My mom also has mad skills in getting ready for bed faster than everyone else (she is definitely a morning person, NOT a night person), and she takes way too much pride in beating everyone to sleep...teehee hee hee!  So, on New Year's Eve, I helped Jared to get ready faster than her by trying to stall her, and I was waiting for her reaction outside the bathroom!
To thoroughly rub it in, Jared pretended to be sleeping in our guest bed in her spot!  Ha ha ha...my mom is really fun to tease!!!

New Year's Day
We obviously hadn't eaten enough over the break;o), so my mom decided that as our final food celebration to welcome in the New Year, she would make us this beautiful and DELICIOUS German chocolate cake.  It was so yummy!  Don't believe me?  Just check out how much my little ones happily dug into the goodness!

Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma Palmer, for making our holidays so much brighter than they ever could have been without you!  We LOVE you!!!
