Someone had a birthday!
Yep, Jared is now 33, as his pancakes denote! What has he accomplished? This pic shows a couple of the most major things. He has become a wonderful daddy to four kids who ADORE him, and he has ended his training and is now practicing ophthalmology! In other words, his 33 years have been busy, stressful, and beautiful!
Silly face birthday pose, please:o)
Emmy decided to bring him the extra large present. She may be petite, but she isn't a wimp (Jed has made sure of that)!!!
Jared got some amazing gifts from our extended family! Thanks So Much!!!
As for our family, we played a little joke on him. We got him the following dollar store gifts:
Colorful Pipe Cleaners
1 Notepad from a 2 pack
Individual Size Tissue Packages
Diaper Bags
Ha ha ha... These were our gag gifts! Why was it especially funny? Because during medical school and residency, we got presents along these lines for our real gifts to Jared a few times. Jared had been on a campout the weekend before his birthday, and it had been a busy time, so I didn't get around to shopping until the day of his birthday. It is hard for me to get up my courage to go shopping with Jed and Emmy, because they are at the ages where they don't give a hoot about trying to be quiet or about not fighting in public!
I figured that Jared was worth the stress of it, though, so I ventured to a few different stores to get my hub some simple, non-dollar store gifts! They were the following:
A Hat (to keep his head warm during scout campouts)
Dr. Scholl's Slippers (to keep his feet comfy and warm inside the house)
A Deseret Book Gift Card (to purchase something from the newly opened store near us)
He was super surprised and happy! I finally did okay at picking out surprise gifts; when we were engaged and first married, I botched it by giving him movies that I enjoyed as a kid (not realizing they were the ones that you could only fully enjoy as a kid...ha ha)! My kids have liked them a lot, though;o)
For his birthday dessert, I decided to sway from a cake to try something new. I molded homemade cookie dough into a cupcake tin and added a spoonful of cooled hot fudge sauce and topped it with a circle of cookie dough. The result was a molten chocolate chip cookie/cupcake, and to top it off we added...
...fresh whipped cream and raspberries. They turned out scrum-diddly-umptious!!!
As they say "Sweets to the sweet!" And I think my hubby is super sweet!!!
What a great family. Was thinking of you this morning and so glad to be able to enjoy some great/fun photos. Sounds like you are all doing great. Happy Sunday to ya!
